While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many events to be canceled, it also has spawned an abundance of creative ideas. One example is The Fur Seasons’ new mobile adoption program that benefits the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC).
When Drue Pollack and Peter Einhorn, who own The Fur Seasons Resort for Pets, determined that they could not safely host its annual Run Fur Fun event in January, they thought of another idea. They approached the HSTC to see if they could take in one of its shelter dogs and treat them as they do all of their other furry guests — a bed in a room of their own, playtime with other four-legged guests, swimming in a bone-shaped swimming pool, and a giant dose of TLC — Tender Loving Care.
“This is an idea that we had … something we could offer to the humane society … a way of showcasing adoptable dogs where they could meet different people and do different activities,” said Pollack.
The HSTC loved the idea and in January, the first set of dogs — yes, a pair, because brothers Willie and Waylon could not be separated — were adopted soon after they arrived at the luxury resort for pets.
Since then, The Fur Seasons has taken in other HSTC shelter pets, making sure they receive the royal treatment until an adopter decides to expand their family.
“We are committed to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and love bringing attention to this no-kill animal welfare organization,” added Pollack. “We are here to help however we can.”
Sarah Fisher, the humane society’s volunteer program manager & mobile adoption coordinator, said, “This is a great opportunity for our shelter pets, and we are so grateful to The Fur Seasons for this community partnership.”
